2018 Plowing Match – April Update

Heather Loucks and Joyce Martin-Bruce attended the 2018 IPM Executive meeting at the Civic Centre on April 3 to get up to date on all happenings. Volunteers are still needed and we have forms for all those who wish to help with the Quilt Shows. If you plan on helping in any capacity, you need to fill out a form in order to be covered by the OPA/ IPM insurance.

There are still a couple of spaces left for Vendors at our August Quilt Show.

Cost is $200.00 for a good sized booth and you must have your own insurance.

Janet Lachance has everything under control for the Tea Room. There will be a Plowing Match souvenir booth at the August Quilt Show although anyone wishing to purchase a t-shirt or other apparel can get it on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday at the IPM office on Richmond Street.

Hope you have been working on a quilt to enter into the show. Deadline for entry forms is June 30. Both the Categories and rules and also the entry form are available on the 2018 IPM website. Or we will have the entry forms available at the Guild Meeting. Quilts need to be brought to St. Paul’s Congregational Church on Tuesday, August 14. Judging will take place on Wednesday, August 15. The Quilt Show will be set up on Thursday, August 16. At that time all winning entries will have their ribbons displayed. The show will be open to the public from 9-5 on Friday and 9-4 on Saturday. Please help yourself to book marks to remember the dates.

This is the 20th Anniversary of our Chatham-Kent Quilters Guild and what a super way to celebrate by being involved in the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo! The 1979 Plowing Match left a lasting memory in this county for those who here back then. We will be fortunate to have a display of at least 3 or 4 quilts from that time plus other memorabilia at our Quilt Shows.

Finally, so far this event has not cost the CKQG a penny. If the Guild or any person in it would be interested in sponsoring a category in the Quilt Show you may contact Dianne Blonde-Pinkerton, Heather Loucks or Joyce Martin-Bruce. Cost per category is $225.00. Proceeds from the Quilt Raffle go to Comfort Quilts.

The next meeting for the people helping with this event will be held at 5:30 pm on April 18, prior to the Guild meeting.
