Comfort Quilts Update – November 2018

From Habitat For Humanity dedicates newest home in CK, courtesy of the Blenheim News Tribune:

Nancy McDowell, exec director for Habitat for Humanity, CK, highlighted the importance of each and every contribution no matter how large or small. The Krutasky family was also presented with two unique gifts to help decorate their home. One was an art piece adorned with signatures of the many volunteers that helped build the home. The Chatham Kent Quilters’ Guild once again presented the family with beautiful quilts, one for each member to enjoy.

October’s Comfort Quilt Parade was a large one – 18 quilts! Eight were for men, great job and thanks to the makers. We gratefully received quilts from the “Never Have I Ever” Challenge. Thank You! Also turned in, was a machine embroidered quilt from a member’s friend. We truly appreciate everyone’s help.

Nineteen participated in the October Cuddle Quilt Workshop. And many extra kits were distributed. Some McMaster Neonatal Nurseries Quilts were completed, as well as some Inspirational Hearts (2 pieces of flannelette sewn together in shape of a heart). These are worn by parents, then placed with their tiny newborns. Some kits of both of these are still available. We appreciated the several members, who attended along with the regular Monday sewers. This workshop is open to all, and will be repeated in January. This is a great opportunity to meet other members, enjoy fellowship and lunching together, while completing a simple pattern…a Cuddle Quilt for the hospital (part of the Guild`s Comfort Quilt Outreach).

Through the Community Grant Program, our Work Associates are proud to support the needs of their communities, by providing grants to local organizations.

Thanks Jo-Ann.

Quilter’s Creed:

Dear Lord please give me the courage to try new things, and the patience to learn. Give me the wisdom to share, and the kindness to encourage. That the creations of my mind, and the talent of my hands may bring warmth, and happiness, to my family and friends and be a blessing and a help to my community. To each and everyone one of you, a Merry Christmas Season to you. And a Happy New Year, 2019.
