The Guild had an offer, from a daughter of former neighbours of mine, to Machine Quilt for us. She has quilted 3 cuddle quilts, a Childcan quilt, PLUS made a small quilt for Childcan. This week, because she heard we often need men’s quilts, she showed up at my door with a large quilt made from her stash of homespun fabrics, quilted and bound.
Often, we have members who quietly slip a top or a quilt(s) to us from a friend. This news is so much better than some of the things we hear in the news every day. We are so fortunate, and appreciative to receive this kind of help from outside the Guild.
FYI, Stitchin’ Sisters, mostly Guild members, have recently sewn 24 pillowcases for Hope Haven, the shelter for men, and 40 for The Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre. Another way of sharing comfort! Please remember, when you hear of a friend, family, neighbour struggling with a trauma to think about a Comfort Quilt for them.
If we all do one act of kindness daily, we just might help move the world in a better direction.
